Definition/About
The return envelope is the second envelope in the two-envelope system. After sealing the completed ballot inside the inner envelope, the unit owner places it into the return envelope. To finalize the ballot, the unit owner must provide their name, signature, and address (unless the address has already been pre-printed). If they prefer not to include their signature directly on the return envelope, they may place it inside another envelope, addressing it to the inspector of elections with a note stating "Return Envelope placed inside". The return envelope inside must still include the required printed name, signature, and address. This allows the inspector to verify the signature while maintaining an extra layer of privacy, though this method is not typically recommended due to potential communication issues. The return envelopes remain sealed until a quorum is reached. If hired to send out ballots, Condo Elects prints the unit identifier and unit address on each return envelope.
